Foundation’s Learning Links

In our Foundation Stage, children learn through play, exploration, and meaningful experiences. Our Learning Links are designed to help you support your child’s development at home in a fun and engaging way.

These activities build on what your child is learning in school, helping to strengthen early skills in communication, reading, writing, and number, while also encouraging curiosity and independence. We hope you enjoy sharing these activities together and celebrating your child’s learning journey.

High frequency and tricky words list for Foundation Stage

The National Literacy Strategy includes a list of words to be taught by the end of Foundation. These are essential high-frequency words which pupils will need; even to tackle the simplest sentences.

Some have irregular or difficult spellings and can be hard to predict from surrounding text.

Some are also ‘tricky’ words; these are underlined. We will continue to work on these words in school and they will be included in your child’s home learning activities.
