Dear Parents and Carers

As we come to the end of another busy and successful term, I can’t quite believe we are two thirds of the way through this academic year – time truly must fly when you’re having fun!

As Spring approaches, it has been a term full of learning, growth and memorable experiences for our children. We are incredibly proud of all they have achieved and the enthusiasm and dedication they continue to show in their learning. From classroom assemblies, to special events, it has been a joy to see them thrive.

It is wonderful to observe our CARE values being lived every day; we encourage our pupils to care for themselves, each other and our world. This week we have raised funds to support a number of charities: Comic Relief, Alexander Devine and Down Syndrome UK. Along with Emmbrook Junior School, we wore super socks and raised £191 for Down Syndrome UK. As a Trust, over £4000 has been raised so far for Alexander Devine Children’s Hospice Service. Thank you to you all for working together as a community to raise this amount of money to help others.

A huge THANK YOU must go to our wonderful PTA – the funds raised through their continuous hard work have enabled us to enrich the children’s education with the Bright Sparks Science workshop and Wonderdome Planetarium which you will read about in this newsletter.

As the term draws to a close and the days lengthen, we hope you all enjoy a well-deserved and restful break, filled with time to relax and enjoy making memories with family and friends in (hopefully) warmer Spring weather.

We look forward to welcoming you all back to school on Tuesday 14th April, ready for more learning and growing as we head into our Summer Term.

Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome to the New Year and what a start to 2026 we have had in school! There has been lots of learning opportunities for the children through baking, art and story telling. On our first day back in January, Year Two was transformed into Pudding Lane, with children making bread as a start to our Great Fire of London learning. There were lovely smells wafting through the corridors as the bread baked! We also had an immersive workshop from Open Box theatre company, where children in Kingfisher and Woodpecker class were transported back to 1666, imagining what it might have been like in London at the time of the Great Fire.

Cygnets also made their own gingerbread people to start their Traditional Tales topic: The children carefully weighed and measured all the ingredients, and counted the buttons to go on each person – and none of the gingerbread people ran away! To enhance the children’s learning of stories through drama, Lou’s Story Suitcase workshop included a wolf who features in many traditional stories – the children had great fun using their drama skills and props to retell these tales.

There has been both cold, wet and windy weather this month, and Year One investigated our grounds on a frosty day, which provided the springboard for lots of super writing, art and science learning. We hope you enjoy looking at the photographs of their exploration in this newsletter.

After the excitement of snow on our return at the beginning of the month, I have noticed birdsong in the mornings, and other signs that Spring is on its way. A huge thank you to School Council, who helped to put beautiful daffodils in our dining room. It’s been lovely to see the children sat eating their lunch, discussing how they have seen them bloom over the last few days.

We are looking forward to finding other signs of Spring over the coming weeks! What will you spot when you are on a walk?

It has been a privilege to see the children living out our values every day in school. From stacking trays at lunchtime so it is easier for the kitchen cooks to carry, to holding doors open for friends, raising money for charity and looking after the environment by weeding and sweeping. Thank you so much, Emmbrook Infants!

Amazingly, we’ve already reached the end of the first term of this academic year, and what a busy and fun-filled term it’s been. This December we’ve been treated to pantos, workshops and some very festive gift wrapping by the children and elves!

We hope you all enjoyed watching the Christmas productions over the past few weeks. I would like to say a huge thank you to the staff team for the work and effort that goes into putting these performances together, whilst ensuring they continue to deliver our high quality curriculum at the same time. And also, a big thank you to the children for their brilliant speaking, singing and signing on stage! To see the children teach us about Christmas traditions from around the world through dance and song was a joyful experience. Another thank you goes to all the parents and carers who donated their spare change at the end of our Christmas productions. We raised a brilliant £488.02 which we will use towards purchasing a selection of additional resources for school.

Another thank you is also to you, as parents and carers, for your on-going support of the school and dedication to your children’s education. We are very much a team and your assistance in making sure your children arrive promptly and ready to learn is always appreciated.

And a final thank you from me to the whole Emmbrook community: Staff, PTA, parents and children, for a wonderful first term. This is a very special place to work, and I feel honoured to lead such a fantastic school.

We would like to wish you all a happy and restful Christmas holiday period, and we look forward to welcoming all of the children back to school for our start to the Spring term on Monday 5th January 2026!
